The SLINGSHOT RPM vs. the SLINGSHOT Rally. The RPM is a much faster kite, very precise flying characteristics and fast turning and loops. This is what has brought the fame and five world champion titles to this kite (this is the status as of 2016 - more to come, we are sure!). The RPM is best suited for freestyle riding, unhooked tricks, but also for wave kitesurfing, with a style where the rider moves the kite a lot, i.e. does bottom turn – top turn – bottom turn – top turn ... on a wave and the rider moves the kite fast from one side of the wind window to the other. The RPM is in general suited for the more sophisticated rider and an excellent versatility kite for all conditions and styles, for freestyle and for wave riding.

 

The Rally is much slower than the RPM, but also the more efficient kite, actually. It goes extremely well upwind and has a lot of power per square meter. It is very easy to relaunch. Therefore the Rally is the kite for the very demanding rider, who wants best flying and re-launching characteristics, but who does not need or want a fast kite. The Rally is superb for old-school tricks, hangtime and for a wave riding style, where the rider seeks the power of the kite and its extreme upwind capability to get onto a wave, and then “switch the kite off” and let it drift along with you, while you are enjoying to surf the wave. The Rally is also an excellent beginner and school kite.
